Start and first section of the route

The starting point of this exciting excursion is the parking in front of the small church of Passo San Pellegrino, easily accessible. From here, take the well-marked CAI trail no.604, which crosses a picturesque wooded area and bypasses the Baita Paradiso. The trail leads you to the Passo Le Selle Refuge, where you can stop for a refreshing break before tackling the most challenging part of the route.

The beginning of the via ferrata, between nature and history

Once you have refilled your energy, it’s time to wear the climbing kit. The path no.637 will take you to the Picol Laste, where the real ferrata starts. This part of the route will surprise you with its historic structures, such as trenches, walkways and tunnels dug during the First World War, an experience that will make you feel part of history.

The itinerary continues to the Cima di Campagnaccia, from where you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view. After passing this point, you will arrive at the “Sforcela del Ciadin”, another panoramic spot that will leave you breathless.

Return to the starting point

Once you have completed the via ferrata, you can remove your equipment and go down a steep scree that will lead you to the meadow in the locality “Palon del Bianco”. From here, a further descent will take you to the dirt road along the ski slope, which will eventually take you back to the parking lot where you started.

Tips for climbing the Bepi Zac Ferrata

The Bepi Zac ferrata requires appropriate clothing, especially for the equipped part. Make sure you wear sturdy, waterproof mountain shoes that are ideal for rocky and gravel trails. Don’t forget the helmet, harness and gloves, which are essential for the ferrata. A light windbreaker and a good pair of sunglasses are also recommended.

The best time to climb the Bepi Zac is during the summer months and late spring, when the conditions are more favourable and the snow has melted. Avoid taking the hike in the winter months or during particularly rainy days, as the via ferrata can become dangerous.

This ferrata is not suitable for beginners. Before you start, make sure you have experience with ferrata and are physically prepared. If you don’t feel confident, consider taking a guided tour.
